The Opportunity
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Operations Associate - Harvesting to support our growing equipment part harvesting and inventory operations. In this role, you'll disassemble complex medical systems, extract reusable components, and maintain inventory accuracy to support our supply chain. This position is perfect for someone with mechanical aptitude, BOM experience, and a passion for continuous improvement in operational processes.
Shift : Friday-Monday, 10-hour shifts (4 days / week) Note : Schedule will be modified during the first 60-90 days for training purposes.
Key Responsibilities :
- Disassemble incoming medical / industrial equipment and harvest reusable components with precision.
- Inspect, clean, label, and prepare parts for reuse or inventory, following ISO 13485 standards.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using ERP / MRP systems.
- Interpret and create Bills of Materials (BOM) for part tracking and traceability.
- Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to ensure proper part disposition.
- Assist in process improvement initiatives focused on harvesting, documentation, and inventory workflows.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and support root cause analysis for part quality issues.
- Keep work areas organized and safe, contributing to 5S and Lean efforts.
- Operate forklifts and hand trucks as needed, following safety protocols.
- Meet daily / weekly production targets while maintaining high standards.
- Assist in de-installation of medical equipment, occasionally onsite.
- Support scrap processing and sorting of harvested components.
- Participate in the on-call rotation for urgent operational support.
- Create, revise, and maintain work instructions and quality documents for ISO compliance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities you'll need for this opportunity :
High School Diploma or GED required3+ years of experience in a mechanical, technical, or warehouse operations roleForklift certification preferred (or ability to obtain)Strong mechanical aptitude and experience using hand toolsComfortable interpreting BOMs, schematics, and technical diagramsFamiliarity with basic electrical safety and ESD practicesProficient in inventory systems and Excel; ERP experience is a plusDetail-oriented, well-organized, and self-motivatedStrong problem-solving skills and ability to multitaskAble to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periodsValid driver's license and clean driving recordFamiliarity with ISO 13485 and medical device quality standards (preferred).Why we love DirectMed, and why you will too!
