Clinical Educator - Women's Care

Plans, coordinates, implements and evaluates learning experiences for nursing team members and perinatal education programs for patients. Determines educational needs based on team member input, physician feedback, patient feedback, performance improvement activities, variance report tracking, advances in clinical knowledge and practice. Coordinates the unit educational activities to meet the assessed needs for team member development and requirements of Joint Commission and CMS. Plans and performs new team member orientation, education and training on new technology / protocols, as well as ongoing inservice education. Functions as a unit based clinical expert and responsible for unit operations in the absence of unit director.

Assists Lactation Consultant with supporting breastfeeding mothers and their families prenatally and postpartum for inpatients and outpatients. Assists with the breastfeeding warm line for outpatient calls in the absence of the lactation consultant. Assists with maintaining Baby Friendly designation.

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing; BSN required, MSN preferred
• Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Missouri required
• Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) or Certified Breastfeeding Specialist or Educator (CBS) (CBE)minimum, or Certified International Board Certified Lactation Consultant
• IBCLC) or actively pursuing Certification.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
• Neonatal Resuscitation Provider Instructor or obtains within 6 months
• Certification in obstetrical nursing or pursuing
• Knowledge and skill in program design, implementation and evaluation
• Possess strong communication, organizational and leadership skills with strong critical thinking skills
• Working knowledge of regulatory agency requirements
• Familiar with basic nursing performance standards as outlined in the Missouri Nurse Practice Act
