Energy Work Management Supervisor
Colorado Springs Utilities is hiring a people-focused and results-driven individual to lead our Outage Work Management team responsible for providing work management, planning, and scheduling support related to power energy plant outage coordination, outage electric operations and maintenance scheduling, resource coordination, and outage maintenance projects. You will direct, plan, and evaluate the work of Outage Coordinators, Planner Analysts, and BSS while providing technical expertise and establishing work programs and objectives. You will also lead, coach, and mentor your team in ways that foster engagement and promote professional growth and development.
What You Will Be Doing
- Overseeing and leading the outage work management team, planning, scheduling, and tracking of energy plant outages and projects, as well as some construction and maintenance jobs
- Developing long-range and short-term planning initiatives; establishing policies, procedures, and practices related to energy plant outages, electric operations, and construction; reviewing new policy proposals or revisions; and recommending changes in practices and procedures to increase operating efficiency and expedite workflow
- Training and developing staff in work management best practices, analysis techniques, and methodologies
- Developing goals, documenting performance, providing performance feedback, and formally evaluating staff's work
- Ensuring work performed by the team is done so in compliance with all applicable permits, laws, rules, regulations, ordinances, service level agreements, and codes - and with organization policies, procedures, standards, regulations, and objectives
- Leveraging and enhancing work management processes to aid with outage planning, organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling tasks and projects
- Forecasting staffing and resource needs, potential system failures, asset reliability, preventative maintenance, and operational requirements for planning
- Providing technical research, advice, and recommendations for policies, standards, and operating procedures to meet current and future operational and regulatory requirements and to support system installations, expansions, modifications, and improvements
- Participating in the development and administration of the assigned budget, including forecasting resource needs for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies
Who You Are
- Demonstrated work management experience, preferably in a leadership or senior/lead individual contributor capacity
- Knowledge of work management best practices
- Desire and ability to lead, coach, and mentor others to drive professional development and engagement
- A bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, technical management, or a related field is valued
- Ability to build and sustain cross-functional relationships to support planning and scheduling efforts across utility service work groups
- Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license is required - operating Colorado Springs Utilities' vehicles to visit job sites is an essential function
- Successful completion of a utility apprenticeship or similar technical craft training or experience is valued
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a small amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may also require walking or standing for brief periods. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
- Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions within an office working environment.
