Grounds Maintenance Worker II
The Grounds Maintenance Worker II is responsible for providing attractive, safe, and well-maintained grounds. Job duties include policing assigned areas, emptying trash containers, sweeping or blowing walkways and parking lots, removal of leaves and debris, maintaining turf areas by mowing with push mower or riding mower, maintaining equipment, maintaining irrigation systems, making necessary repairs and adhering to mandated watering restrictions, maintaining flowers, shrubs, groundcover beds, trees, planting seasonal color, assisting with mulch dispersal, maintaining trees, including pruning and chipping limbs, assisting in cleanups on campus for special events, assisting in spreading sand and de-ice agents during bad or inclement weather, using a computer and work phone to monitor and address AIM work orders and SAP entries, and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications : Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position. Knowledge of turf and landscape maintenance equipment, knowledge of equipment maintenance, knowledge of irrigation systems, knowledge of safety standards associated and best management practices, proficient with landscape maintenance small engine equipment : line trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, push mowers, chainsaws, proficient with riding mowers and zero turn mowers, ability to assess landscape conditions, troubleshoot equipment, and solve problems efficiently, ability to communicate verbally and receive instructions that may require duties to be completed individually or as part of a team, ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. alone, ability to perform strenuous physical duties outdoors in various weather conditions, including walking distances.
Preferred Qualifications : Knowledge of PPE, plant identification, pesticide / application knowledge.
