Position Details
Department : Women’s Services – LDRP (Floor 2)Beds : 6 LDRP beds (also serve as postpartum beds)OR Suites : 1 dedicated for C-sectionsBirth Volume : ~160 births / year (12–17 per month)Staffing : 2 RNs per shiftScheduling : Self-scheduling with core staffWeekend & Holiday Rotation : Equitably distributedCall : None requiredFloating : Occasional “helping hands” or safety attendant duties onlyCharting : Epic EMR | EFM : CentricityScrubs : Surgical scrubs provided; may wear own unless in deliveryJob Duties
Provide comprehensive care for laboring, postpartum, and well-baby coupletsManage induction, preeclampsia, hypertensive crisis, and hemorrhage protocolsAct as newborn nurse during C-sections (not circulating)Stabilize high-risk patients until transfer (no twins or triplets)Collaborate with OBs, peds physicians, and anesthesia teamsIndependently manage laboring patients during nights and weekendsTitrate and manage Magnesium and Pitocin drips (occasional insulin prior to transfer)Requirements
Active RN License (Compact or State Specific)Minimum 2 years of LDRP experience (must include strong, recent labor experience + some postpartum exposure)Certifications :BLS (AHA)
ACLS (AHA)NRPSTABLE (or willing to obtain)AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced preferredComfortable with newborn stabilization and independent patient managementUnit Overview
Physician Coverage : OBs on-call after hours (clinic M–F); shared hospitalist coverage with MedSurgPeds Coverage : M–F days; on-call nights / weekendsAnesthesia : On-call after hours (30-minute response time)Respiratory Therapy : Available; nasal cannula and non-rebreathers used as neededOrientation : 1 facility day + Epic training + 2 unit shiftsRadius Rule : Must live 50+ miles awayAbout Genie Healthcare
