Position Description
Perform paraprofessional civil engineering work and other related duties in the field and office.
Salary :
Anticipated starting salary for this position is : $32.97 - 40.08 / hour, depending on qualifications.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Transportation Engineering and Design (Street Design) (2 position)
Assist Engineers and Engineering Technicians in project support and design using OpenRoads Designer. Provide assistance to Engineers and Technicians in various aspects of Capital Project delivery such as cost estimating, field verification and report writing.
Work Conditions :
This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work with some days working remotely and some days working in the office. Typical hours are 7 : 00 am - 3 : 30 pm, Monday through Friday.
Transportation Engineering and Design (Bridge Group) (1 position)
Perform construction contract administration duties including preparation of partial payments and change orders. Provide assistance to Engineers and Technicians in various aspects of Capital Project delivery.
Working Conditions :
Combination of office and field. Typical work hours are 7 : 00 am-3 : 30 pm, and may include overtime, longer weekday. and Saturdays during the construction season. During the construction season, most of the work will be outdoors.
Transportation Engineering and Design (Sidewalk Inspection) (1 position)
Primary duties will be to perform inspection and investigation work related to assigned engineering projects to evaluate conditions of ADA pedestrian ramps, sidewalks, and roadways. Make recommendations for repairs and / or replacement when needed to ensure safety and compliance of existing / proposed infrastructure in the right-of-way. Assist with review and inspection of private development projects in Minneapolis related to the right-of-way. Assist Project Manager and Technicians with data analysis, contract management, and permit review.
Working Conditions :
Combination of office and field. Typical working hours 7 : 00 am - 3 : 30 pm, and may include overtime during the week as needed.
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Eighteen months training in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE :
Two years of experience performing similar duties
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS :
Valid Driver's License

The selection process will consist of one or more of the following steps : a rating of relevant education and experience and / or an oral examination (100%) . Only those candidates who attain a passing score (70%) on each step in the selection process will be placed on the eligible list. Drug and Alcohol Testing
All job applicants must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test once a conditional offer of employment has been made. Applicants will be required to sign a notification and consent form prior to undergoing drug and alcohol testing. Applicants who do not consent to undergo drug and alcohol testing will not be required to do so and the City will withdraw the conditional job offer, resulting in the job applicant no longer being considered for the position.
Medical Exam
After a conditional job offer, candidates will be required to pass a medical examination which includes a physical screening.

Eligible List Statement
