Job Title : Travel Phlebotomist Night Shift

Location : Johnson City, NY 13790

Start Date : October 27, 2025

Shift : Nights Thursday to Sunday, 10 : 00 PM 8 : 00 AM (4x10 hour shifts, 40 hours / week)

Pay Rate : $40$41 / hour

Weekly Gross Pay : $1,640.00

Estimated Weekly Take-Home : $1,450.00 (after taxes)

Interview Type : Video Interview Required

Housing Requirement : Must live more than 50 miles from the facility

Facility Type : Acute Care / Hospital Setting

Job Summary :

We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist for a night shift travel assignment at a reputable hospital in Johnson City, NY. This role involves performing various phlebotomy tasks and specimen collection procedures across inpatient, outpatient, and off-site locations (e.g., Skilled Nursing Facilities, Pre-Admission Testing). Candidates must be comfortable working independently, rotating through multiple responsibilities, and delivering compassionate patient care.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Perform venipuncture (venous & capillary), 24-hour urine collection, random urine collection, H. pylori breath test, and glucose tolerance testing.
  • Ensure accurate patient identification and appropriate specimen collection techniques.
  • Understand fasting / non-fasting requirements for various tests.
  • Select age-appropriate venipuncture equipment and assess best collection sites.
  • Perform test order entry in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and ensure proper documentation and coding.
  • Obtain patient consent, prior authorizations, and ABNs as needed.
  • Manage STAT, routine, and timed draw prioritization according to guidelines.
  • Provide outpatient front desk / reception coverage, managing patient flow and wait times.
  • Respond to and assist patients courteously, embodying Service Excellence.
  • Observe patients during procedures and report complications to clinical staff immediately.
  • Execute downtime procedures when HIS / LIS systems are offline and support recovery processes.

Qualifications : Required :

  • Minimum 3 months of phlebotomy experience in an acute care (hospital) setting
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with EHR systems and test order entry
  • Knowledge of lab specimen processing procedures and medical necessity requirements
  • Preferred :

  • Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Training Program or Medical Office Assistant (MOA) training
  • Ability to perform EKGs (required if assigned to Pre-Admission Testing area)
  • Additional Requirements :

  • Must be able to work Thursday through Sunday, 10 PM to 8 AM
  • Must reside 50+ miles away from the facility (Traveler position)
  • Video interview is mandatory
  • Flexibility to rotate between on-site and off-site locations
