Job Title : Operations Manager - Transmission Construction

Location : Illinois (Hybrid / Remote options available)

Salary : $150,000 - $180,000, plus performance-based bonuses and a company-provided truck with all expenses paid

Position Summary :

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager - Transmission Construction to lead the development and operations of a new division specializing in Transmission and Distribution (T&D) infrastructure construction. This role requires a strategic leader with strong business development acumen, a solid foundation in managing T&D projects, and the expertise to grow and scale operations effectively. Based in Illinois with flexible hybrid remote work options, this position offers a competitive salary range of $150,000 - $180,000, performance bonuses based on individual and team metrics, and a fully funded company vehicle.

Key Responsibilities :

1) Division Establishment & Business Development

  • Lead the establishment and operational setup of a new Transmission Construction division within the company.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business plan to drive client acquisition and market expansion in Illinois and surrounding regions.
  • Engage in proactive business development efforts to secure new clients and build strategic partnerships within the transmission and distribution sector.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to shape the division's strategic direction, setting growth goals and expansion timelines.

2) Pricing, Estimation & Bids Management

  • Oversee the pricing strategy and work closely with the estimating team to develop competitive and profitable bids for transmission construction projects.
  • Collaborate with the finance and project management teams to create realistic budgets and ensure financial metrics are met.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor pricing to maintain the company’s competitive edge in T&D project bidding.
  • 3) Project Execution & Team Leadership

  • Manage and lead all aspects of transmission construction projects, from initiation to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are achieved.
  • Recruit, train, and oversee project management staff, providing guidance and support to ensure effective project delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Establish clear project management protocols and reporting standards, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence within the team.
  • Act as a liaison between clients, field teams, and company leadership to resolve issues and ensure consistent communication throughout project lifecycles.
  • 4) Performance Metrics & Reporting

  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to division growth, project execution, and team productivity, reporting regularly to executive leadership.
  • Drive a results-oriented culture by setting performance targets for individual team members and the division as a whole, linked to financial and operational incentives.
  • 5) Compliance, Safety & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all projects comply with relevant safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.
  • Implement safety and quality protocols across all projects, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and adherence to best practices in T&D construction.
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in transmission construction or T&D infrastructure, with a track record in both project management and business development.
  • Proven experience in establishing and growing a business division, including market entry, client acquisition, and strategic planning.
  • Strong understanding of bid development, cost estimation, and project pricing for large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Leadership experience in managing and developing project management teams, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and industry safety standards within the T&D sector.
  • Ability to work on-site in Illinois, with flexibility for remote or hybrid work as needed.
