Financial Analyst

General Statement Of Responsibilities & Duties :

As The Financial Analyst, you will work closely with the Senior Finance Manager of Curatorial, Conservation, and Scientific Research to provide administrative support for the financial planning process and assist in the management of programs and restricted funds spanning multiple departments and projects. You will prepare budget templates, conducting monthly reviews and reconciling monthly entries, reviewing funding activity, and assisting with forecasting and variance analysis. You will need to utilize strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities & Duties :

Provide administrative support in preparing annual departmental budgets. Work with the Senior Finance Manager to translate departmental requests into clear, accurate budget submissions aligned with the financial planning guidelines.

Support forecasting meetings by analyzing operating budgets, identifying discrepancies, and preparing questions for departmental discussions.

Compare and validate external financial models against the institutional financial plan. Identify variances, resolve discrepancies, and ensure alignment with the Museum's budget and planning team.

Prepare monthly journal entries for funding adjustments and assist with year-end close activities.

Track and report on budgets for departmental exhibitions and other initiatives that span multiple departments by ongoing financial monitoring and flagging potential risks or shortfalls.

Serve as a first point of contact for departments on day-to-day financial matters escalating complex issues to the Senior Finance Manager as appropriate.

Manage the costing allocation process to ensure compensation funding is allocated correctly.

Support the validation of financial reports for donors and other stakeholders

Education & Experience :

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or related field, or equivalent work experience.

2 years of experience supporting administrative and financial functions related to donor funding or restricted funds.

Working knowledge of or interest in learning finance, fund accounting, and financial reporting analysis.

Exceptional organizational skills, extremely detail oriented.

Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite.

Demonstrated interest in process improvement and leveraging tools to increase efficiency.

Compensation Range :

Pay Range : $85,000.00 - $90,000.00 / Annually

The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, education, special licensing or qualifications, and other factors.

Location Requirements

At time of employment, employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum. "Commuting distance" means that they are located in one of following states : New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania (the "Tri-state and PA" areas), and be able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
