About the Role
A leading provider of specialized insurance solutions is seeking a Senior Underwriter to join its Disability Income Insurance division. This role focuses on underwriting policies for impaired risks—individuals with pre-existing medical conditions or those who have been declined by standard insurance markets. You'll be a key part of a nimble, high-impact team with the opportunity to influence product development and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite complex individual disability income cases, particularly for impaired risk applicants
- Review and analyze APS, physician reports, lab results, and medication histories
- Approve or decline cases in a timely manner, applying clinical and financial judgment
- Manage a pipeline of approximately 100 active cases
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on product development and competitive market analysis
- Contribute to special projects and strategic initiatives with senior leadership
- Foster strong, collaborative relationships with top producers and external partners
- Ensure compliance with underwriting policies, procedures, and data accuracy
- Participate in the design and enhancement of underwriting tools and capabilities
