Our ESL / ELL Teacher are responsible for providing excellent instruction to all students, including our students requiring ELL services. ELL teachers are also responsible for facilitating all support for our ELLs, including collaborating with our general education teachers. They will actively participate in professional development and form strong relationships with students and families.
Job Responsibilities :
- Take ownership of the privilege and responsibility to ensure high levels of student learning for all ELL students.
- Collaborate closely with General Education (GenEd) teachers to co-plan and co-teach lessons.
- Establish a rigorous, supportive, and joyful classroom culture with high expectations for student success, both individual and collective.
- Instruct ELL students purposefully, clearly, and urgently to achieve measurable learning outcomes.
- Coordinate services effectively among internal teams and external providers to support ELL students.
- Track and assess student progress consistently to ensure that individual student needs are met and adjust instruction as needed.
- Help to develop, communicate, and implement policies and operating procedures for English Language Learner (ELL) programs and activities.
- Oversee the screening and assessment of ELL students, ensuring accurate identification and placement.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to ELL programs, monitoring and managing documentation and reporting requirements.
- Act as the school’s primary liaison on all matters related to English Language Learners, both within and outside of the school community.
- Identify and promote best practices for ELL instruction, incorporating promising techniques from within and beyond Beacon College Prep.
- Embrace opportunities for professional growth and development.
- Manage student behavior in alignment with the school-wide behavior management system.
- Conduct conferences with parents, students, school leaders, and teachers to foster strong home-school connections and establish and maintain open lines of communication.
- Demonstrate effective techniques for engaging parents, guiding them to learn strategies that support their child’s academic and developmental growth.
