Responsibilities Work in a 33-bed trauma and general surgery inpatient unit with both stepdown and floor beds Patient population includes multi-trauma, traumatic brain injuries, fractures, general surgery, bariatric surgery, and complex spinal cord injuries Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 3 for stepdown and 1 : 6 for floor patients 12-hour night shifts; weekend nights required (Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday) Holiday shifts as scheduled with staff rotation Floating to similar units is required Uses Epic for documentation; prior Epic experience preferred Monitor techs are available but RNs must validate and read cardiac strips Provide care for trauma, post-surgical, and complex medical-surgical patients Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including care management, surgical and medical services, and rehabilitation Royal blue scrubs required Clinical associates and respiratory therapists are available to support patient care Unit offers exposure to both floor and stepdown care for professional development Holiday coverage is integrated with perm staff scheduling Testing may be required for cardiac strip competency for stepdown units Requirements Active WV or compact RN license required Minimum 2 years of acute care experience Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Experience with complex wound care, drains, chest tubes, traumatic injuries, respiratory support, and bariatric patients required Must be able to read cardiac strips Driver's license address must be outside a 50-mile radius from the facility COVID-19 vaccination required unless special exemption is approved Previous perm or traveler employees at any WVU facility must have a 2-year break before consideration Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-623443.
