Job Summary :

• Ideal candidates will demonstrate knowledge of and experience in hands-on and integrated learning, as well as early childhood development and literacy skills; be highly motivated, hard-working, collaborative, enthusiastic about working with young children, energetic and flexible; demonstrate a desire to learn; and show initiative.
• Candidates should have a strong pedagogical background and be invested in collaborating with colleagues and working closely with early elementary-aged students.   In addition to having the required professional and educational background, we seek an enthusiastic, energetic candidate.

Essential functions of the role Build a joyful and nurturing classroom community that sparks intellectual curiosity and growth for all students, and demonstrates clear and affirming classroom management Collaborate with one’s grade level team to plan and teach an integrated, mission-aligned, early elementary program, including literacy, writing, math, science, social studies, and social emotional learning Collaborate with Student Learning Services and Counseling & Wellness teams as well as outside support providers as necessary to promote student success and wellness Administer and analyze assessments to differentiate for a range of learners Maintain consistent communication with parents / guardians through formal reporting (progress reports and conferences) as well as more informal check-ins Co-write a monthly newsletter about grade-level curriculum and activities; share students’ work with Director of Communications to post on social media Support school-wide events, including Back to School Night, math mornings, portfolio day, field day, and admissions events Supervise children in the classroom, during recesses and dismissal, and on field trips Qualifications Must Demonstrate :
