Salary range :

The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment. The current full-time salary range for Lecturer positions is $75,301 - $199,722. Starting salary is commensurate with highest degree, teaching experience, and equity within the department.

Percent time : From 17% to 50%.

Anticipated start : January 1, 2026.

Position description

The College of Engineering recently launched a comprehensive aerospace engineering program, anchored by the new undergraduate major (presently hosted in the Department of Mechanical Engineering) and fueled by the increasing societal significance of aerospace-related technologies.

The aerospace engineering program invites applications to teach one in-person, 4-unit AERO ENG 120 : Introduction to Space Engineering course in the Spring 2026 semester.

Course Objectives : This course introduces engineering students to the space environment, the engineering challenges faced when designing spacecraft and instrumentation for the space environment, and the design and analysis tools used to address those challenges.

Instructor Duties : In addition to classroom teaching and preparation, general duties may include (but are not limited to) managing and mentoring graders and / or graduate student instructors (teaching assistants), holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and maintaining a course website.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications

Master's degree or equivalent international degree at the time of application.

Preferred qualifications

Expertise in space technologies through an engineering or science degree, as well as work experience in the Aerospace or Space Engineering industries.

Evidence of successful past involvement in teaching at the university level and / or a strong commitment to instruction or mentorship.
