Job Overview

The California Department of Insurance (CDI) seeks a dynamic Senior Casualty Systems Actuary to serve as a subject‑matter expert in collaboration with the Information Technology Division (ITD). The incumbent will develop and implement strategies to modernize rate filing intake and review systems, make recommendations to advance these systems, lead transitions, and spearhead complex actuarial analysis projects related to rate filing review within the Property and Casualty insurance sector.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with ITD to modernize rate filing intake and review systems and processes.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise on rate filing review systems and lead transitions.
• Perform consultative and analytical assignments associated with Property and Casualty insurance rate regulation.
• Provide support for assignments requested by or in collaboration with the Commissioner and other CDI branches.
• Mentor and guide other actuarial staff within the Rate Actuary Office.
• Apply expertise in flooding, wildfire, heat, and extreme temperature physical risk analysis.
