Unit Overview : Join our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit, where you'll care for a diverse and complex patient population, including :
Post-operative craniotomies for bleed evacuation, AVMs, and tumor resections.Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries.Hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke patients as part of our Comprehensive Stroke Program.High volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients, along with medical overflow cases.As part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII), you will have the opportunity to work with the latest neurosurgical techniques and advanced patient care.

Utilize the nursing process to assess patient needs, plan and implement interventions, and evaluate care effectiveness, involving the patient and family.Anticipate and recognize significant changes in patients' conditions, and act promptly to adjust the care plan.Implement patient safety strategies and assess the learning needs of patients and families.Coordinate discharge plans using an interdisciplinary approach.Evaluate outcomes and engage in shared governance for process improvement.Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration within the healthcare team.Foster a culture of safety by reporting patient safety events and intervening when necessary.Participate in quality improvement initiatives for better patient care experiences.Engage in professional development activities and seek mentorship opportunities.Adapt care for patients of diverse ages and backgrounds while considering their unique needs.Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.Education Required :
Completion of an accredited nursing program.Experience Required :
Typically requires 1 year of relevant nursing experience.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :

Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist during the workday.Must be able to lift objects up to 50 lbs. from the floor to waist and 20 lbs. overhead, carry up to 40 lbs., and push / pull with 30 lbs. of force.May work with hazardous materials and must wear protective equipment when required.Must maintain functional hearing, vision, and tactile senses for patient care tasks.Ability to operate needed equipment for the job.This job description reflects the general nature and level of work expected of the role.
