CSTs at Cayuga Health play a key role in the interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive, compassionate care to the community. They practice at full scope, contributing to program development and care plans in a shared governance environment to enhance patient outcomes.

Roles and Responsibilities :

• Standards of Care : Maintains operative care standards according to AORN guidelines.
• Preparation and Setup : Stocks rooms, cleans equipment, and prepares supplies based on surgeon and anesthesia needs.
• Surgical Support : Assists with patient positioning, surgical hand scrubs, counts, and Time Out procedures.
• Safety and Infection Control : Identifies and addresses safety hazards, follows universal precautions, and infection control protocols.
• Accountability and Flexibility : Organizes tasks to meet patient and unit needs, adapts to changes, and stays current with education and policies.
