About the Role :

The role of a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) is critical in supporting healthcare teams by safely administering medications to residents under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. This position ensures that residents receive their prescribed medications accurately and timely, contributing to their overall health and well-being. The QMA acts as a vital link between residents and healthcare providers, monitoring residents responses to medications and reporting any adverse effects or concerns. This role requires a strong commitment to resident safety, adherence to regulatory standards, and effective communication within a multidisciplinary team. Ultimately, the QMA helps enhance the quality of care delivered in healthcare and social assistance settings by maintaining meticulous medication management practices.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Completion of a state-approved Qualified Medication Aide training program.
  • Current certification or licensure as a Qualified Medication Aide as required by the state.
  • Basic knowledge of medication administration principles and healthcare safety standards.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and protocols accurately.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Previous experience working in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
  • Additional certifications related to resident care or medication administration.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Responsibilities :

  • Administer prescribed medications to residents according to established protocols and under the supervision of licensed nurses.
  • Monitor residents for side effects or adverse reactions and promptly report any concerns to nursing staff.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medication records and documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Assist in educating residents about their medications and proper administration techniques when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
