Cochran's Kansas City, Missouri location, is looking for a Civil Project Engineer to join our team.

Position Summary : We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to support a wide range of civil engineering projects. This role is ideal for someone with an EIT certification who is actively pursuing or has recently achieved their Professional Engineer (PE) license . The ideal candidate brings experience in design, permitting, and construction support, and is ready to take on more responsibility in project coordination and client communication.

Key Responsibilities :

• Assist in the planning, design, and delivery of civil engineering projects, including site development, roadway improvements, drainage systems, and utility infrastructure
• Prepare design plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates
• Perform engineering calculations, site layout, grading, and stormwater modeling
• Support project managers with schedules, budgets, permitting, and agency coordination
• Conduct site visits and assist with construction observation and documentation
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes
• Mentor junior engineers and support staff as needed
