24-bed inpatient unit Certifications Required :  BLS (Basic Life Support)  ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Nurse-to-Patient Ratio :  Typically 5–6 : 1 Primary Responsibilities :  Acute care nursing  RN assessments and patient rounding  Medication administration (PO and IV)  Starting IVs and care of PICC lines  Care of patients with wound vacs  EPIC documentation (including care plans and medication reconciliation)  Team-based support of other sta􀆯 as needed Unit Support :  Charge Nurse present  Typically 1 patient care tech per shift (occasionally 2, preferred; currently hiring more)  Nursing Supervisor on-site until 9 pm  House Resource Nurse available 9 pm – 7 am Patient Population :  Primarily med-surg with some telemetry  Mix of acute care patients and short-term rehab patients Common Diagnoses / Procedures :  Pneumonia (PNA)  Urinary Tract Infections (UTI)  Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)  Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)  Note : Higher acuity patients are transferred out; hospital does not have an ICU (Critical Access Hospital). Scheduling / Traveler Utilization :  Approval to o􀆯er 48 hours across the network (no OT billed until after 48 hours)  Rare need to utilize 4 shifts per week, but option exists if needed; will only o􀆯er 36 hours guaranteed with opportunity to pick up
