Polk Mechanical Company is a specialty mechanical subcontractor with expertise in Pipefitting, Plumbing, HVAC, Sheet Metal, and Ductwork bringing complex commercial and industrial projects to life. We are currently seeking a Plumbing Takeoff Estimator to join our Pre-Construction team, working alongside Estimators and Virtual Design professionals to ensure every project is set up for success from day one. As a Plumbing Takeoff Estimator, you will :
- Provide accurate material and labor cost estimates
- Identify and correct incomplete or flawed engineering plans
- Play a critical role in the early stages of project planning and execution
Responsibilities :
Review project plans and specifications to fully understand scopeIdentify missing components, code compliance issues, and cross-trade conflictsUse expertise to correct and complete imperfect drawings and dataGenerate takeoff reports and verify accuracy of revised drawingsMonitor and incorporate all addenda, scope changes, and breakoutsCommunicate and justify estimates to internal teams and external partnersQualifications and Requirements :
High School Diploma or GED (required)Minimum 4+ years in the mechanical construction industry (plumbing-specific roles such as tradesman, installer, or service technician)Strong ability to read and interpret :Plumbing, piping, architectural, structural, and civil blueprints
In-depth understanding of :Plumbing systems (e.g., domestic water, sanitary waste)
Fixture and equipment connectionsLocal plumbing codes and ADA standardsMaterial and labor cost parametersProficiency in :Estimating software (FastPIPE, FastDUCT)
Bluebeam Revu and PDF editing toolsMicrosoft Excel and digital file managementLicensed Plumbing Experience, Apprentice, Journeyman or Master (preferred)Higher Education in construction or related fields (preferred)Job Conditions :
Supervisor : Reports to Senior & Chief EstimatorsWork Environment : Office-based with occasional job site visitsSchedule : Fast-paced environment; may require extended or irregular hours to meet deadlinesCollaboration : Frequent interaction with internal Pre-Construction and Project Management teams, as well as external General Contractors and Engineering Firms
