Job Description

An EKG Technician is a healthcare professional responsible for performing electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) tests to measure the electrical activity of patients' hearts. EKG Technicians work in hospitals, clinics, physician offices, and other healthcare settings to assist doctors in diagnosing heart conditions. They prepare patients, operate EKG machines, record test results, and ensure that accurate data is provided for further evaluation by physicians.

Key Responsibilities :

• Performing EKG Tests :

Set up and operate electrocardiogram (EKG) machines to record the electrical activity of patients' hearts.

Explain the EKG procedure to patients to ensure understanding and reduce anxiety.

Operate and maintain EKG machines and other related equipment to ensure functionality.

Document all relevant patient information, including medical history and any special instructions for the procedure.

Work closely with physicians, cardiologists, and other medical professionals to ensure the accuracy of tests and assist in diagnosis.

Follow all applicable healthcare regulations and best practices, including those set by HIPAA and OSHA .

Provide follow-up instructions to patients, such as advising them to contact their physician for test results or if they experience symptoms after the test.
