Schedule is based on the operational needs of the department and EMCC.

Job Summary

Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring a Custodian to support the Facilities Department. This position provides a full range of custodial duties under the direction of the Maintenance Operations Manager.

Additional Information

Time management and basic computer knowledge are also a must.

Essential Functions

40% - Sweeps, mops, strips, and waxes floors; vacuums and cleans carpets; cleans whiteboards, dusts, and polishes furniture. In-depth knowledge of property chemical handling, floor-care, general cleaning techniques, and knowledge of use of cleaning equipment.

25% - Maintains restrooms, break rooms, cleans cobwebs inside and outside.

15% - Performs minor maintenance tasks and reports repairs that are needed.

10% - Inspects and conducts routine maintenance of small equipment used by custodial staff.

10% - Empties and cleans trash cans and recycles receptacles. Uses electric vehicles to haul trash and equipment when necessary. Other duties as assigned, commensurate to the grade level of the position.

All duties listed are expected to be engaged autonomously unless otherwise directed.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of formal or informal education or experience which assures the ability to read, write, and speak at a level sufficient for the successful completion of the job duties as described.

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered .

Desired Qualifications

A. Experience working in a college or large school environment.

B. Experience providing customer service to a wide variety of people in medium to large facilities.

C. Two (2) years of experience working with industrial cleaning methods and chemicals.

D. Two (2) years of experience operating custodial equipment.

E. Experience with proper use, storage, dilution, and labeling of cleaning products

F. Experience in conducting quality control checks

G. Experience in equipment inspection or minor repair
