• Work Monday through Friday, 36-40 hours per week
• Call responsibilities typically 2-3 times per week
• Weekend call every 2nd or 3rd weekend
• Provide assistance in the operating room under supervision of surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses
• Work in ambulatory (River View, Pavilion) or hospital setting (Main OR)
• Prepare operating / procedure room and surgical equipment
• Pass tools to surgeons during operations and help control equipment such as lights, bovie or suction
• Assist with safe transfer of patients to operating room table
• Assist in positioning patients safely for procedures to prevent injury or harm
• Participate in physician-led time-outs
• Initiate appropriate emergency procedures in collaboration with physicians, including BLS
• High school graduate or equivalent required
• Graduate of a surgical technician accredited program required
• CPR certification required
• Certification (CST) required
• Previous OR experience preferred
• Must maintain safe and clean work environment
• Complete yearly competencies to secure and maintain position
