Sheet Metal Installer - North Island, Coronado

We are seeking a skilled Metal Installer with extensive experience in the installation and construction of ship components. This role involves installing bulkheads, ceiling panels, doors, trim, windows, rails, and hardware, as well as participating in related construction activities on Navy ships. The Metal Installer will work closely with large sheet metal pieces, valves, and bulkheads and must adhere to Navy Standards, utilizing blueprints for guidance.

Responsibilities :

• Install bulkheads, ceiling panels, doors, trim, windows, rails, and hardware on Navy ships.
• Assist in the installation of insulation for compartment floors, ceilings, and walls.
• Work with Tac welding and large sheet-metal pieces for initial placement before full welding.
• Read and interpret blueprints to guide installation and assembly processes.
• Fabricate, assemble, modify, and repair various sheet metal products including ventilation systems, housings, metal partitions, and more.
• Operate metalworking machines and use precision instruments for fabrication.
• Verify the conformance of fabricated items to blueprint specifications.

Work Environment :

The work is performed at various shipyard facilities in San Diego, CA, including Nassco, BAE, CMSD, North Island, and the Naval Base on 32nd Street.

Job Type & Location :

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits :

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
