SEN Teaching Assistant – Preverbal Autism Support (Tower Hamlets)
Full-time | Long-term | Immediate start
We’re looking for passionate and reliable SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist provision in Tower Hamlets , supporting preverbal children with Autism (ASD) in a 1 : 2 model classroom.
You’ll be part of a dedicated team helping children develop communication, independence, and social skills through structured routines, sensory activities, and visual supports.
Requirements
Supporting non-verbal pupils 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 in a structured ASD setting
Using PECS, Makaton, or visual aids to support understanding
Helping pupils engage in sensory and play-based learning
Working closely with teachers and therapists to track progress
Maintaining calm, consistency, and clear boundaries throughout the day
What we’re looking for :
Experience working with Autism, preferably preverbal or early years SEN
Calm, patient, and proactive attitude
Ability to follow structured routines and use initiative
Reliability and commitment – the children need consistency
Enhanced DBS (we can help with this if needed)
