Job Description

Position Summary

Serves as the role model and coordinates and performs all operations within the Draw Station / Laboratory, for example, Infusion Lab maintenance, record retention, order entry, insurance verification, and specimen collection / processing. These activities are performed in accordance with all existing regulatory, state and company standards, policies and procedures. Helps the Phlebotomy supervisor with oversight of all draw stations.

Written and verbal communication skills are essential. The Phlebotomy Team Leader will be instrumental in coaching and mentoring new employees. This position serves as a role model for team members and must demonstrate a high level of professionalism and adherence to policies and procedures at all times.

Key Accountabilities

• Performs all duties within the draw station and infusion laboratory environment (same job duties as a Phlebotomist) and distributes responsibilities appropriately throughout the division.
• Assists with creating phlebotomist schedules and assigning work, resolving problems, enforcing policies and procedures, coaching, and providing input to performance evaluations, etc.
• Helps to train new employees on procedures, policies and workflows.
• Continually strives to improve quality and productivity by identifying improvement opportunities and recommending and implementing changes.
• Uses resources effectively and efficiently to achieve the goals, objectives and deadlines within the Laboratory.
• Provide coverage when scheduled or in emergency situations (callouts).
• Maintains strict confidentiality.
• Adheres to OSHA regulations.
• Adheres to CLIA regulations.
• Performs other duties as requested.
