Job description

Helmsman Opportunity On The USS Voyager

The USS Voyager is seeking a skilled Helmsman to navigate the uncharted territories of space. This individual must be adept at steering a state-of-the-art Intrepid-class starship through nebulae, avoiding spatial anomalies, and occasionally time-traveling (no previous experience required, but an open mind is a must).

Key Responsibilities :

  • Pilot the USS Voyager through various types of space phenomena with precision and calm, especially when the coffee supply is low.
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Engineer to occasionally "bend" the laws of physics to get us where we need to go faster.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and excellent flying skills even if the nearest starbase is 70,000 light-years away.
  • Participate in away missions as required, ideally without breaking any local laws or causing interstellar incidents (again).
  • Assist in the integration and training of any unconventional new crew members, including but not limited to holograms, ex-Borg drones, and entities from fluidic space.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make split-second decisions that could potentially alter the course of the ship (and series).

Qualifications :

  • Extensive experience in piloting advanced starships; previous experience in high-speed chases and evasive maneuvers strongly preferred.
  • A proven track record of resilience and adaptability, preferably demonstrated by bouncing back from less-than-ideal circumstances (such as a checkered past or time in a penal colony).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of personalities and species.
  • A sense of humor and the ability to remain calm under pressure, especially when the Captain decides to take the ship into seemingly impossible situations.
  • Knowledge of astrometrics and local space anomalies desirable, but not required (we'll probably pick up someone along the way who can handle that).
  • Note :

Preference will be given to candidates who have shown a capacity for personal growth and redemption, especially those seeking a second chance or looking to redefine their legacy. Must be willing to commit to an extended mission duration, which, while scheduled for exploration, could inadvertently become, say, a one-way trip to the other side of the galaxy.

    Disclaimer :

USS Voyager is an equal-opportunity employer. Former Maquis, Federation outcasts, and individuals with a knack for bending Starfleet regulations without breaking them are encouraged to apply. Ability to tolerate the Captain's fondness for ancient Earth literature considered a plus.
