Job description

Overview Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states. We are seeking a skilled Public Relations Specialist in Princeton, NJ . The Public Relations Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing strategic communications initiatives to advance the organization’s mission and enhance its visibility. This position requires a high degree of independent judgment, professional expertise, and creative problem-solving in designing and executing communication strategies across multiple platforms.

Starting Pay Rate : $40,000

Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that align with organizational goals.

Draft, edit, and distribute press releases, media advisories, feature stories, and other communications materials that reflect organizational priorities.

Ensure all messaging is consistent with brand standards and organizational values.

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with journalists, bloggers, and media outlets to secure coverage.

Serve as a media contact, responding to inquiries and proactively pitching story ideas.

Oversee content strategy, creation, and scheduling for social media platforms to strengthen audience engagement and growth.

Respond to messages, comments, and inquiries on social media and other communication channels in a timely and professional manner.

Plan and execute key events, community outreach efforts, and promotional activities.

Conduct research to identify new media opportunities and industry trends.

Drive marketing and promotional strategies for marketing projects to increase awareness and engagement.

Partner with internal departments to support organizational initiatives through strategic communications.

Represent the organization at external events, including meetings, professional associations, and networking functions, to build partnerships and increase visibility.

Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, English and / or other writing intensive major

Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.

Exceptional written and verbal communications skills

Outstanding interpersonal skills

Strong work ethic and ability to meet task deadlines
