Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated PCU RN Traveler for a 13-week travel nurse contract at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. This 44-bed Progressive Care Unit (K7, K Tower) specializes in high-acuity neuro and trauma care. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, managing complex neurological and trauma cases with strong clinical judgment and a patient-focused approach.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality progressive care to neuro and trauma patients in a 44-bed unit with 4 : 1 patient ratios (5 : 1 when stretched).Perform neuro and spinal checks, C-collar / TLSO brace placement, chest tube management, PCA pump operation, IV infusions, lumbar drains, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusions.Utilize Cerner EMR for accurate documentation and care coordination.Collaborate with day / night shift teams : 2 CNC / Charge (no assignment), 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, 1 HUC.Float to stepdown and med-surg units as needed (contract staff float first).Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.Qualifications
Required :
Active North Carolina or Compact RN license in good standing.Certifications : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.Neuro and Trauma Care experience (candidates without these skills will not be considered).Proficiency in managing high-acuity PCU patients, including chest tubes, trachs, and IV infusions.Preferred :
Advanced experience in neuro and trauma care.Schedule
36 hours per week, consisting of three 12-hour night shifts.Contract length : 13 weeks.Scrub color : Navy blue.Why Join Us?
