American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Overland Park, Kansas. Job Description & Requirements Specialty : PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline : RN Start Date : 12 / 01 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced PCU RN with BLS and NIHSS certification for a float pool night shift assignment requiring multi-unit flexibility. Responsibilities Float pool position within a hospital setting, not assigned to a home unit Will float between approximately five Med / Surg Intermediate and PCU departments, including metro campus locations Night shift schedule, 3 x 12-hour shifts per week from 6 : 45 p.m. to 7 : 15 a.m. over a 13-week contract Patient ratio of 1 : 5 Must work at least 8 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule period (combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) Required to work holiday shifts and take charge assignments as needed Care for a diverse patient population including cardiac, neuro stepdown, sepsis, renal failure, wound care, ETOH, SI, AFIB, GIB, stroke, and COVID Utilizes equipment and technology such as cardiac monitors, 12-lead EKG, AirVo, Voalte, Omnicell, and telemetry monitoring Responsible for managing dysrhythmias, post-cardiac cath care, wound care, sepsis, and various acute and chronic medical conditions commonly seen in a progressive care setting May perform tasks such as feeding tube care, IV therapy / phlebotomy, accessing ports, blood product administration, central line care, and sheath removal (preferred skills) Pre-start compliance modules required with approximately 10-15 hours to be completed before orientation Pre-start EMR module (3 hours) and additional orientation modules provided during onboarding Drug screening required; positive or diluted results that cannot be cleared will result in assignment cancellation and a six-month wait to reapply Holiday coverage is required and may include major holidays as scheduled by the facility First-time travelers are accepted Requirements Active KS, MO, or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration Minimum of 2 years of recent PCU, MS / Tele, or related specialty experience with at least 1 year in the specialty within the past 12 months and no employment gaps longer than 90 days in the past year Certifications required : BLS (AHA) and NIHSS; ACLS preferred Proficiency in telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and pre / post cardiac cath care Ability to float between departments and facilities as needed Submission requires two professional references, one from a supervisor and one may be from a Charge RN, both from the past year No pending licenses accepted; license must be active at time of consideration Cannot reside within a 75-mile radius of the facility No travel partners accepted Maximum of 7 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-630004.
