As a PH RN Children's Medical Service within East Central Public Health District, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Starting Salary : $60,000

Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner and leaders encourages all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being. A maximum of 30-minutes in a given workday may be used to engage in wellness activities, generally in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

Job Responsibilities

All East Central Health District 6 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event including but not limited to : staffing a shelter, working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and / or working at a Point of Dispensing site (POD). If you are called on to participate, you are required to report to the designated site as a condition of employment, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.

Provide home visiting services to identify, assess and provide care coordination to eligible infants and

children at risk for poor health and developmental outcomes.

Make appropriate intervention recommendations to families to ensure optimal health and development.

Assist client / family in obtaining care and resources for eligible chronic health conditions.

Provide referral / linkage for children and families with identified medical and environmental risks / needs to appropriate services, monitoring per program guidelines, educational instruction and materials to promote wellness, safety, child development and disease prevention.

Promote all Child Health programs through community engagement and events.

Develop and sustain community partnerships.

Minimum Qualifications

Under the pre-employment fitness-for-duty this position is considered a

  • Category 4 : Health-related :
  • Positions where medical knowledge and skills are required, such as nurses or therapists.

    The East Central Health District serves 13 counties.

    Travel is reimbursed at the State of Georgia Mileage rate.

    Must have the ability to work independently, be self-motivated and have exceptional time-management, interpersonal and organizational skills.

    Maintain knowledge of community resources.

    Have reliable transportation.

    Have the ability to lift and carry 10 pounds.

    Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of nursing experience and completion of a PHN course within one year of hire and current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification

    Preferred Qualifications :

    Public Health and home visiting experience

    Pediatric experience, preferably those with special health

    care needs

    Familiar with M&M and SendSS software a plus
