Job description

Overview

Aon is seeking an experienced attorney to serve as Global Cybersecurity Counsel and managing counsel for the regional North America and LATAM privacy and data trust team. The individual will report to the Chief Privacy & Data Trust Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a process to advise and shape compliance strategies on global cybersecurity regulatory developments and relevant contract risk management requirements.
  • Monitor and interpret global cybersecurity regulatory developments and advise the Global Cyber Security organization on control framework enhancements, developing and implementing policies, playbooks, key performance and risk indicators, processes, guidelines and training.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and engineering teams on embedding privacy and security by design principles.
  • Advise strategically on global incident response, policies and procedures, and support the review of incidents, breach notification and regulatory reporting, inquiries, investigations, complaints, and litigation, including root cause analysis and remediation and stakeholder communication.
  • Support compliance initiatives and audits.
  • Advise on cybersecurity issues in M&A activities, strategic transactions and third-party security risk management requirements.
  • Manage and provide strategic advice and support to the North America and LATAM privacy and data trust team consisting of privacy lawyers, contract security and incident response professionals.
  • Coordinate and work cross-functionally with global teams and risk committees to support Aon business initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Global Privacy & Data Trust Office to develop risk management strategies and external materials that promote Aon’s best practices for cyber, privacy and data laws.

Qualifications

  • JD (or equivalent) to practice law in the United States.
  • 8+ years of experience in a law firm and / or in-house environment, and / or experience in litigation and investigations with at least 3 years focused on cyber and security law.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity regulations and standards, such as NIST, ISO 27001.
  • Experience with incident response and cybersecurity control frameworks.
  • Experience with global privacy laws including GDPR, CCPA / CPRA.
  • Experience leading teams and working collaboratively in a matrixed environment.
  • Experience advising on privacy and security by design principles, cyber security response management, and contract negotiations.
  • Experience developing strategies to implement requirements from new laws and regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional leadership and ability to influence stakeholders across functions and regions.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present to senior executives.
  • Curiosity and willingness to take on new challenges and thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to accommodate some evening / early morning global calls and travel.

    Pay Transparency : The salary range for this position is $225,000 to $275,000 annually, with actual compensation based on experience and location. This role is eligible for annual incentive plans in addition to base salary.
