This position is responsible for supervising and investigating adult criminal offenders who have been determined to need specialized intensive supervision or require special investigative efforts and are on or seeking release to probation parole work releases a community residential center or grant of pardon. Public safety is the utmost concern in the execution of all duties.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience as a probation or parole officer or in counseling psychology social work education criminal justice or administrative services plus one of the following :
1. Three years of experience in corrections or law enforcement
2. Three years of continuous active military duty (all Military Occupational Specialties apply)
3. Six years of full-time experience in any field
4. A bachelors degree
OR
One year of experience as a probation or parole officer or in counseling psychology social work education criminal justice or administrative services plus a masters degree in counseling psychology social work education business administration public administration or a criminal justice field.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION :
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
Possession of a current Louisiana drivers license.
This position requires the incumbent to handle and carry firearms.
Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties :
Conducts high-risk offender investigations and intensive supervision including violent offenders sex offenders gang members and medically contagious offenders while ensuring legal compliance administering drug tests and coordinating community service activities.
Provides leadership and functional supervision to Probation and Parole Officers guiding field operations crisis interventions arrests transportation training and unit oversight in the supervisors absence.
Supports and monitors correctional and community-based programs including sheriffs maintenance work release residential facilities IMPACT programs and CRC operations through audits disciplinary hearings and contract-compliance reviews.
Delivers and coordinates specialized tactical and defensive training including PPCT decisions firearms instruction pre-academy requirements POST academy classes and collaboration with external agencies for advanced tactical preparation.
Ensures agency-wide compliance with ACA standards conducting audits of jail facilities performing structured evaluations and maintaining required procedures timelines and documentation across major activities.
Provides programmatic leadership and statewide support helping develop objectives evaluate strategies recommend policy changes assist private providers and collaborate closely with officers supervisors program managers and administrative leaders.

Appointment Type : Promotion of a permanent classified employee of LA DPS&C - CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC)
Compensation : This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $30.57 per hour.
Note regarding the advertised pay range : The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make at each level over their career and NOT the amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.

Any degree certificate special license or DD-214 must be verified by official documentation prior to hire.
Any qualifying experience that is based on college credit / college hours should have an accompanying transcript for verification.
