About The Position

Description :

Mixed unit PCU with Med Surg Tele and Med Surg.

Travelers will manage all levels of care.

Patient ratio is 1 : 4 on all shifts.

Familiarity with intermediate medication drips is necessary, including heparin, nitroglycerin, cardizem, and insulin.

Charge experience is required.

First-time travelers are accepted.

Weekend shifts are required every other week.

Floating within the service line to meet facility needs is expected.

Travelers will float between various facilities as needed.

The unit serves adults and geriatric patients.

Common patient diagnoses include chest pain, abdominal pain, atrial fibrillation, TIA, anemia / GI bleed, dehydration / AKI, syncope, vertigo, COPD, asthma, UTI / pyelonephritis, headaches / migraines, CHF, seizures, carbon monoxide poisoning, pancreatitis, cellulitis, and post-outpatient surgery complications.

The department operates with a length of stay goal of 18 to 24 hours.

Around two-thirds of patients are managed under designated providers during the day, reachable by phone during off hours.

Experience in observation medicine is preferred.

Telemetry is an essential work setting.

Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation.

Compliance with COVID-19 and flu vaccine requirements is mandatory, with exceptions for medical or religious reasons.

Travelers may be required to complete additional certifications and provide references if requested.

Schedules can be subject to change based on staffing needs, with notice provided.

Travelers must have experience interpreting dysrhythmias and managing cardiac drips.

Knowledge of isolation precautions is also required.

No local travelers within a specified radius will be accepted.
