Position Overview
Mantel Technologies seeks a Project Materials Engineer to support efforts at the nexus of advanced materials and discriminating mission capabilities. This position requires project management experience, a strong technical foundation in applied materials and engineering, and demonstrated success managing and interfacing with internal and external stakeholders. As a Project Materials Engineer, you’ll work closely with a diverse technical team on a range of technology and product development efforts.
This position requires an active US Government security clearance.
Location : Columbus OH
Responsibilities :
Serve as project manager on both externally- and internally-funded product / technology development efforts with responsibility for driving project planning, accountability for technical milestone realization and project financial performance
Contribute technically to product and capability development initiatives
Work with senior personnel to identify opportunities for technical portfolio ownership and collaborate internally and externally to execute technology development roadmaps
Build, cultivate and manage external relationships including customer, end user and collaborators / supply chain partners in industry and academia
What We’re Looking For :
Active U.S. Government security clearance required
BS (7+ years) or MS (5+ years) in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Systems Engineering (requires materials background), Applied Physics or a related field.
5+ years’ relevant experience developing advanced or novel material systems for defense applications
3+ years’ experience in technical project management roles inclusive of coordination, task management and overall project management responsibilities
Broad exposure to both commodity and nascent / emerging materials to include strong foundation in materials synthesis, formulation and / or processing
Exceptional candidates will :
Have prior experience with and exposure to advanced sensing systems and their implications on future mission system design
Have strong background in experimental design to include design and execution of characterization and test and evaluation activities based on technology readiness level
Have experience working as part of multidisciplinary teams requiring individuals to both lead and defer based on scope and team composition
Have experience supporting technical proposal development
