Position
The Dermatology Practice Manager is responsible for performing clinical and administrative tasks to support physicians and nursing staff while ensuring compliance with quality standards, confidentiality, and regulatory requirements. This role requires a high level of competency, professionalism, leadership, and communication in patient care and back-office operations.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate competency and professional responsibility in all aspects of the medical assistant role.Adhere to clinic personnel policies and procedures.Apply constructive feedback from performance evaluations toward continuous staff development.Maintain strict confidentiality in all interactions with patients, families, staff, and the public.Successfully complete annual competencies, orientation, training, skills evaluation, and performance reviews.Maintain up-to-date certifications and competencies, including age-appropriate care training, Safety Education Module, annual competency checklist, orientation / safety / skills checklist on hire.Perform chart reviews for completeness, maintaining at least 80% compliance.Demonstrate accuracy in ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding, scoring 80% or higher on assessments.Maintain working knowledge of clinic policy and procedure manuals (Safety, Infection Control, MSDS, Disaster, and Clinic-Specific manuals).Attend at least 75% of scheduled staff meetings.Ensure accurate documentation of patient data and chart assembly, including vital signs, weight, allergies, medication history, immunization records, chief complaint, and signature / initials on required documentation.Accurate ICD-9 coding per diagnosis; disassembly and timely filing of medical records.Provide outstanding customer service with a positive and helpful attitude toward peers, patients, and visitors; prepare patients for exams; gather patient demographic and insurance information; assist providers by assembling and organizing records and treatment rooms.Answer incoming calls with proper clinic identification and patient triage; document and relay messages; schedule appointments and follow up on missed visits.Accurately type documents, including 1st reports, TARs, and correspondence; operate office equipment; obtain prior authorizations for referrals; maintain a clean, functional workspace; support billing and medical records systems; demonstrate safe practices and complete Incident Reports as required.Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent requiredMedical Assistant Certification required1+ year experience in a clinical medical assistant role (dermatology preferred)Front office experience preferredCurrent BLS certification requiredStrong typing and accurate filing skillsProven ability to maintain professional conduct and patient confidentialityBasic computer skills and familiarity with EMR systemsBilingual skills preferredPhysical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 100 lbs with assistance and carry up to 50 lbsProlonged periods of standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and stoopingJob Details
