About the Company : Samueli Academy is a non-profit 7-12 public charter school in Santa Ana, CA. Its mission is to ignite the passion within all students to reach their greatest potential through a nurturing and innovative learning environment. Samueli Academy offers youth an innovative and student-centered choice for their education. This includes on-site housing for foster youth who need a stable living environment in order for them to excel academically.
Position Title : Tutor
Employment Classification : Part-time, Non-Exempt, Hourly. Approx. 20 hrs. per week. Flexible schedule during school hours (M-F 8 : 15am - 3 : 45pm)
Reports to : Head of School
Position Summary : Tutoring serves high school students by assisting with academic success strategies. The primary responsibilities of a tutor is to support students (tutees) to become more independent learners, persist in college, and reach their goals. Tutors provide individual and / or group tutoring to students to support work completion, primarily in math (Algebra and Geometry principles) and writing. Tutors meet with students to clarify and review concepts taught in class, explain processes and help students solve specific problems while supporting them to complete assignments. Tutoring supports classroom-centered activities, and as such, the emphasis and content of the tutoring sessions is determined by the student's needs.

Working Environment / Physical Requirements
Primarily a classroom or office environment. Physical requirements include standing, sitting, typing, bending, and lifting up to approximately 25 lbs.
Modification to work schedule may be made based on need of the Academy.
