Curriculum & Program Developer for Dental Assisting – Certificate Program Salary : $77.25 hourly Classification : Part-Time Exempt Reports to : Dean of Nursing & Allied Health Applications will be reviewed continuously until the vacancy is filled.

Olympic College is seeking a Curriculum and Program Developer for the Dental Assisting Program. The purpose of this role is to plan, design, and implement a new Dental Assisting certificate at Olympic College. This position plays a critical role in creating a program that meets accreditation standards, state licensure requirements, and workforce needs while aligning with the college’s mission to expand access to healthcare education.

Essential Functions

  • Design program structure, including certificate / degree pathways, course sequencing, and program outcomes.
  • Align program with?Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)?standards and state regulations.
  • Collaborate with instructional leadership to define curriculum maps, credit hours, and instructional modalities.
  • Draft course descriptions, student learning outcomes, syllabi templates, and instructional objectives.
  • Integrate current best practices in dental assisting, infection control, radiography, ethics, and chairside assisting.
  • Recommend instructional materials, simulation and lab needs, and assessment tools.
  • Prepare documentation for program approval by internal curriculum committees and external bodies (e.g., SBCTC, CODA).
  • Assist in writing policies related to admissions, progression, grading, and clinical requirements.
  • Support the creation of student and faculty handbooks in alignment with accrediting body requirements.
  • Participate in a Program Advisory Committee consisting of local dental professionals, faculty, and community members.
  • Facilitate meetings to ensure alignment of curriculum with industry needs and employer expectations.
  • Support obtaining clinical affiliation agreements with local dental practices for student externships.
  • Provide input on equipment and supply needs for didactic and clinical lab spaces
  • Recommend simulation models, dental chairs, radiographic units, and sterilization tools in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Work closely with Administrative Dean(s), workforce development, divisions, departments including curriculum, finance, facilities, and human resources.
  • Provide regular progress reports to the Healthcare Division Dean and participate in institutional planning meetings.
  • Support grant writing and reporting as applicable to program development funding.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification

  • Associate degree in Dental Assisting or a related field (Bachelor’s or higher preferred).
  • Current Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credential through DANB or licensed Dental Hygienist / Dentist.
  • Minimum three years of clinical experience in dental assisting or dentistry.
  • Experience in curriculum development, program design, or academic planning in higher education is preferred.
  • Familiarity with?CODA accreditation standards and state / national certification requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, project management, and collaborative skills.
  • Desired Qualification

  • Experience teaching in a dental assisting or health science program at the postsecondary level.
  • Experience developing or managing clinical education or partnerships.
  • Demonstrated understanding of workforce and community college student needs.

    This is a part-time exempt position scheduled to work Monday through Friday. The salary for this position is $77.25 an hour, which includes a generous benefits package that includes the following.
