Full-time Houseparents for Student Care

Milton Hershey School (MHS) is a premier home and educational institution dedicated to providing a remarkable, cost-free career-focused education for over 2,100 pre-K through 12th grade students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Established in 1909 by the generosity of Milton and Catherine Hershey, the school is fully endowed and boasts over 12,000 graduates, continually expanding its reach to serve more students.

MHS is seeking married couples to join our team as Full-time Flex Houseparents. In this fulfilling career, couples will live in on-campus student homes and offer crucial care, guidance, supervision, and support to a group of approximately 8-13 students. As Flex Houseparents, you will play an essential role in cultivating a structured, family-like environment that promotes students' academic, emotional, and social growth, helping them achieve their full potential. Responsibilities include :

• Providing daily supervision and mentorship to students
• Managing household routines and coordinating student schedules
• Administering medications and ensuring the overall wellness of students
• Transporting students to various activities while actively participating in developmental and recreational activities
• Leading daily devotions and attending Sunday Chapel services with students
• Overseeing budgeting and household reporting

Upon hiring, Flex Houseparents will support different student homes for an initial period, working a schedule of nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off. Houseparents will have unscheduled time on weekdays when students are in school. Eventually, Flex Houseparents will transition into a Placed Houseparent role, where they will reside and work with the same group of students in their designated home.
