Job Description

Responsible for designing, testing, and implementing internal network solutions. Maintaining and providing Tier 3 support for the network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, network appliances, and wireless APs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the network services staff, ensuring the IT needs of faculty, staff, and students are met.
  • Complete and deliver regular audits and assessments, providing reports as required by regulatory agencies and management.
  • Design, test, and implement internal network solutions.
  • Partner with project managers on network solution analysis, business requirements, and risk assessments.
  • Provide Tier 3 support to all network-related service desk incidents.
  • Sustain technical expertise in all areas of LAN / WAN / WLAN capacity planning, network architecture design, unified communications, and engineering for a secure IT network.
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7-10 years related experience of network topologies, routers, switches, firewalls, packet analysis, and other network-based hardware and software.
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP / IP, IP routing, LAN and WAN protocols, campus and data center switching, and load balancing.
  • Excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong network documentation creation and management.
  • Knowledge of established security best practices.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • CCNP, CCDP, and / or JNCIP certification.
  • Experience implementing and supporting a network infrastructure in a higher education environment.
