Construction Foreman
Since 1996, RQ Construction, LLC has been a leading force in Southern California's commercial and governmental Design-Build market. With projects spanning from coast to coast-and internationally at locations such as U.S. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Puerto Rico-we deliver full-service project management across the United States. Our field operations teams work on-site to execute fast-track, high-quality construction specializing in new commercial builds with a strong emphasis on Department of Defense projects.
We are currently seeking a Trade Foreman to join our Self-Perform team for construction projects in the Norfolk, VA area. The Trade Foreman will lead assigned trade crews across various disciplines on active construction sites. This role is responsible for supervising day-to-day field activities, ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with project scope, safety standards, and RQ's Mission, Vision, and Values.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, supervise, and coordinate crews across various trades such as framing / drywall, concrete, carpentry, earthwork, or general labor.
Ensure all work meets project specifications, schedule requirements, and quality standards.
Promote and enforce jobsite safety practices consistent with company and regulatory requirements.
Assist with scheduling, workflow planning, and material coordination to support productivity.
Collaborate with project managers and field leaders to resolve challenges and maintain progress.
Utilize appropriate equipment and tools while ensuring safe and proper operation.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
Construction-related coursework (construction management, engineering, trades training, etc.) preferred but not required.
1+ years of experience as a Foreman, Lead Worker, or Crew Leader in any construction trade preferred; candidates with strong field experience and leadership ability will be considered.
2-3 years of general construction, trade, or field experience highly desirable; experience on government, military, or large commercial projects is a plus.
Experience working across multiple trades or performing general construction tasks (e.g., temporary protection, cleanup, trench pumping, BMP repair, fencing, basic layout, equipment use) is beneficial but not required.
Basic computer literacy (email, Microsoft Office, mobile apps) preferred; training available.
Familiarity with construction scheduling or coordination tools (e.g., Primavera, Procore, Oracle, BIM platforms) is a plus; training available.
CPR, First Aid, OSHA 10 / 30, EM-385, or similar safety certifications preferred; candidates may obtain required certifications after hire (training provided).
