POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Gaming Investigator III, incumbent regulates and controls Class II and Class III gaming on the Southern Ute Reservation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Regulates and controls Class II and Class III gaming on the Southern Ute Reservation.
- Enforces Southern Ute Gaming Codes, Southern Ute Criminal Code, and Federal Criminal Code when applicable.
- Monitors security and gaming operations for compliance with Division Internal Controls.
- Observes patron and casino employee gaming activities for possible code violations, making arrests and filing charges in appropriate jurisdiction.
- Investigates all alleged violations or complaints made by patrons concerning gaming operations on the Southern Ute Reservation.
- Inspects gaming documents for accuracy and compliance.
- Performs 24-hour emergency call and respond duties.
- Responsible for writing incident reports to document observations and investigations.
- Participates in court and provides testimony when required or requested.
- Inspects gaming devices, cards, slots machines, drop boxes, and change banks and locks for defects and malfunction.
- Assists the Gaming Division Head and Lead Investigator in establishing and maintaining positive working relations with local law enforcement agencies.
- Investigates patron disputes over gaming related issues.
- Performs background investigations on gaming license applicants and completed investigative reports.
- Works a rotating schedule to cover all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- May perform gaming auditing duties when required or requested.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings as requested.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 21 years of age.Must have an AA degree in Criminal Justice and 1 year of experience as a Law Enforcement Officer OR 3 years of experience as a Law Enforcement Officer.Must have successfully completed the approved basic police training course conducted at the Indian Police Academy or similar accredited police academy substantially meeting or exceeding the level of training provided by the Indian Police Academy or a respective State POST certification. The certification from such academy or POST must be active and current and must be maintained through the duration of employment.Must pass a comprehensive Law Enforcement background investigation to obtain and maintain the Special Law Enforcement Commission (SLEC) prior to and throughout employment.Must be able to obtain and maintain Federal Deputy Special Officer Commission Card within year of appointment.Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tribal Police Commission card within 90 days of appointment.Within 6 months of employment, must have passed the department's firearms qualifications and continue to be certified semi-annually.Must have computer experience in software programs including a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.Must maintain a telephone for emergency calls.Must have a valid Driver's License for state of residency and be insurable under the Tribal vehicle insurance policy.Must never have been convicted of a felony or a crime of misdemeanor domestic violence in State, Tribal or Federal court. Must not have been convicted of or placed on a deferred judgment for any misdemeanor crime for 1 year prior to appointment. Must not have a restraining order or order of protection. Must not have any felony or gaming related convictions.Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical exam and annually thereafter.Must successfully pass a timed Physical Agility test during the first 90 days of employment and annually thereafter. The test will consist of a serpentine run, 150 lb. body drag, 3 ft barrier vault, bed search, stair climb, 5 ft barrier up & over, tunnel crawl and a lift & carry.Must pass a psychological evaluation prior to employment.Must be of excellent character and reputation and pass a thorough background check including fingerprints and pre-employment drug testing.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
