SUMMARY
Servers at Ama create a warm, memorable, and deeply hospitable dining experience for every guest. They are responsible for guiding guests through the menu, delivering food and beverages with precision, providing genuine hospitality, and maintaining a polished, professional presence throughout service.
Servers are expected to have strong food and beverage knowledge, awareness of timing and flow, and the ability to read guest cues while managing multiple tables with calm efficiency. This role requires an individual who leads with empathy, communicates clearly, and embodies Ama’s mission and values in every interaction.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Service & Hospitality
Provide attentive, friendly, and poised service throughout the guest experience.Guide guests through menu items, allergens, flavor profiles, and chef-driven dishes with confidence.Present food and beverages with accuracy and professionalism.Anticipate guest needs, respond promptly, and resolve issues with tact and grace.Read table cues and pace service thoughtfully to create a smooth dining experience.Food & Beverage Knowledge
Maintain a strong understanding of all menu items, ingredients, cooking techniques, and sourcing philosophy.Understand Ama’s beverage program, including cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic offerings.Stay current on menu changes, specials, and seasonal updates.Communicate allergen and dietary information accurately and follow all safety protocols.Operational Responsibilities
Accurately input orders into the POS and ensure proper routing of modifiers and seat numbers.Close out tables, handle payments, and follow all cash-handling protocols.Maintain cleanliness and organization of service stations, dining room, and side work areas.Assist with table maintenance including marking courses, clearing, resetting, and polishing.Complete opening, mid-shift, and closing side work as assigned.Teamwork & Communication
Work closely with servers, bartenders, runners, hosts, and BOH teams to ensure seamless service.Support teammates by running food, refilling water, assisting with resets, and communicating guest needs.Participate in pre-shift meetings, tastings, and ongoing training sessions.Physical Requirements
Stand and walk for extended periods (8–10 hours).Lift up to 25 lbs. and move quickly in a fast-paced environment.Work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 1–2 years of serving experience in a full-service, high-volume, or chef-driven restaurant.Strong communication skills and ability to multitask under pressure.Knowledge of food, cocktails, wine, and hospitality best practices.Calm, kind, and confident presence when interacting with guests.Must align with Ama’s values of equity, sustainability, community, and hospitality.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Hourly Rate
Tipped position, paid in accordance with Massachusetts Tip Law and the restaurant’s payroll schedule.
Paid Time Off
One (1) week (40 hours) of paid sick time per year.Additional Benefits
