Patient ratios are 1 : 6 or team nursing 1 : 9. Staffing includes a charge nurse, unit secretary on days, and two PCTs. Equipment utilized includes Alaris IV pumps. Documentation is managed through Meditech. Scheduling requires every other weekend. Floating to other Med Surg units may be required. Patient experience standards include hourly purposeful rounds, AIDET, and mandatory bedside shift report. Advanced skills are needed for procedures performed on the unit. Required uniform colors are royal, galaxy, pewter gray, or white scrubs. The unit has received Awards of Distinction from 2015 to 2017 and an honorable mention in 2018.
