JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager this position will provide general specimen processing and clerical support for Laboratory Services Dept.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties :

Answer the phone in a timely and courteous manner.

Assists in calling ordering facilities for samples needing recollected.

Processes and accession blood, tissues, and body fluids for testing.

Centrifuge specimens, and load / unload samples from automated instrumentation.

Review and reconcile pending logs throughout the day, and investigate any discrepancies.

All other processing and clerical duties as assigned.

EDUCATION / LICENSE / CERTIFICATIONS / OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirement :

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment

The noise levels in the environment are usually low

Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment

Constantly required to communicate with physicians and other care team requiring talking and hearing
