The Phlebotomist III - Float is a versatile senior-level phlebotomy professional responsible for supporting multiple locations and acting as a mentor, lead, and subject matter expert. This role involves not only performing specimen collections but also directing site operations, onboarding new staff, and collaborating across multiple business functions to ensure operational and patient care excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Perform and oversee blood collections and specimen processing across various care environments (PSC, IOP, mobile, long-term care, in-office).Provide leadership at assigned locations, acting as a mentor, coach, and trainer for junior staff.Support onboarding of new employees and integration of new clients.Serve as primary contact for patients and staff at assigned locations, escalating issues as needed.Ensure all site activities are completed accurately and on time.Collaborate with functions such as Sales, Laboratory Services, IT, Billing, and Logistics for complex or specialty test orders.Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and HIPAA compliance at all times.Required Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.Five (5) years of phlebotomy experience including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary draws.Three (3) years in PSC / IOP environments preferred.Data entry and keyboarding proficiency.Strong customer service background (retail or healthcare preferred).Nice-to-Have Experience
Medical assistant or paramedic training.Supervisory or lead phlebotomy experience.Prior float or multi-location phlebotomy support.Required Skills
Advanced specimen collection and phlebotomy techniques.Leadership, mentoring, and coaching abilities.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to handle high-volume clinical settings.Problem-solving across cross-functional teams.Preferred Skills
EMR system proficiency.Familiarity with specialty or complex diagnostic test orders.Comfort working in both independent and team-driven environments.Additional Skills
