Founding Cloud Infra Engineer (San Mateo)

Our client is seeking a Founding Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to become the first dedicated infrastructure hire and take ownership of the backbone of their semantic platform. This is a hands-on builder role, ideal for someone with strong infrastructure fundamentals, exposure to ML workloads, and a founders mindset.

The engineer will join a pioneering team working on cutting-edge data technology, with the opportunity to shape and scale infrastructure from the ground up. This role offers the chance to dive deep into modern infrastructure tools and practices, focusing on both cloud infrastructure and machine learning environments. This role is ONSITE

What Youll Do

• Own and build the foundational infrastructure for the semantic platform.
• Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure to support ML and data-intensive workloads.
• Lead efforts in containerization, orchestration, and deployment (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm).
• Automate infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, and other Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and data teams to support the full tech stack.
• Monitor and optimize performance, scalability, and reliability across systems.
• Contribute to technical decisions and help define long-term infrastructure strategy.
