JOB SUMMARY

The Department of Biology at CSU San Bernardino seeks a tenure track Assistant Professor specializing in organismal plant biology, starting August 2026. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to inclusive teaching, student success, and research with undergraduates and . students. Teaching may include comparative plant morphology, plant physiology, local flora, plant biology and diversity, or plant development.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A . (or equivalent) in biology or related field is required by time of appointment
• Publication record in plant biology
• Experimental expertise applicable to undergraduate and Master’s level research in organismal plant biology

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Biology has 15 tenure-track / tenured faculty with a variety of research interests, as well as lecturers and technicians who provide essential support. The department offers undergraduate and graduate programs. The department has facilities for 3D printing, fluorescence microscopy, cell culture and stem cell research, animal care, and plant growth. The CSUSB herbarium hosts a small collection (about 4,000 specimens) of mostly local flora. In addition, the department has access to the College of Natural Science’s Electron Microscope and Image Analysis Center (EMIAC).

Assistant Professor (Range 3) - $6,221 – $13,224

Associate Professor (Range 4) - $6,825 – $14,523

Professor (Range 5) - $8,593 – $15,211
