Job description

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney licensed in South Carolina to join their team in Charleston, SC. This mostly remote position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in South Carolina family law. The successful candidate will work independently, manage a caseload, and appear in court as needed.

Duties

Appear in court on behalf of clients and argue motions during legal proceedings.
Complete legal research and prepare motions, pleadings, and briefs.
Prepare various legal documents, such as motions, pleadings, briefs, and correspondence.
Oversee paralegals, law clerks, and administrative staff.
Track billable and non-billable time and enter time entries into the case management system.

Requirements

Graduation from law school with a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree.

Admitted to practice law in South Carolina and in good standing with the Bar.

Experience in representing clients for at least 2 years.

Ability to handle a heavy caseload with little supervision.

Strong writing and communication skills.

Proficient in online legal research platforms.

Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide sound advice.

Experience with legal drafting, negotiation, and litigation.

Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

Education

Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree.

Certifications

Licensed to practice law in South Carolina.

Skills

Thorough writing skills.

Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Comfortable working collaboratively with legal staff.
